First Crowd-Sourced CT Image Quality Study Reports on Initial Findings

Accumetra presented on the initial findings and results of the first ultra-low cost and crowd-sourced CT image quality study at the Prevent Cancer Foundation’s Quantitative Imaging Workshop on June 13, 2016 in Bethesda, MD. Within a two month data collection period the CT Lung Screening Challenge obtained CT image quality data from 26 healthcare institutions, 53 CT scanners, and 128 individual CT scans. The study found higher levels of CT image acquisition variability than expected. In addition, many opportunities to improve low dose CT screening scans for early detection and nodule change measurement were found ranging from better education and guidance on CT imaging protocols to features that future scanners could provide to support higher quality screening studies.
