Accumetra Launches the First Cloud-based CT Image Quality Reporting System For Radiologists Chicago, Illinois – December 2, 2015 Accumetra launched a first-of-its-kind web based CT image quality reporting system at the Radiological Society of North America’s (RSNA) annual
meeting. This free to use advanced prototype demonstration system (http://accumetra.com/accumetra-solutions) allows radiologists and physicists to upload a CT scan of three rolls of scotch tape and emails back a quantitative report translating fundamental performance characteristcs of the scanner into clinically meaningful performance indicators. Radiologists can now determine whether their scanning protocols provide sufficient quality for the clinical task at hand. Reports currently contain quantitative information on small lung nodule detection and volume measurement performance. This new approach to quantitatively monitoring and verifying the quality of a CT scan in radiological task performance terms enables many additional uses including comparing two different protocols or scanners, verifying whether CT scanning quality is sufficient for specific clinical studies, and monitoring that the optimal balance of radiation dose and image quality is being attained. Accumetra’s image quality assessment platform can also be extended to additional clinical applications including detection and measurement of coronary calcifications, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and orthopedic studies. When released for clinical use, calibrated phantoms will be used in place of demonstration tape to ensure that high quality reports are generated in the clinical setting.
